A Beachy Birthday for Mom
Sometimes Cat and I like to just get out of town for a night. When the urge arises we often jump down to La Jolla for a night to enjoy some great food and our favorite “secret” beach. So we thought it would be a great place to take my mom for her birthday, and show her some of our favorite places.
Mom and I at our secret beach. No links here. Cat and I aren’t disclosing its location.
One of the famous La Jolla caves. The photo below is inside of this cave that pictured above.
The cave is accessible through a tunnel in the La Jolla Cave Store. It’s a pretty narrow tunnel where I had to duck to keep from bashing my head and my mom was feeling a little claustrophobic, but it was pretty cool to be inside of the cave watching the ocean waves crash in.
This is El Pescador; arguably our favorite restaurant in town. Not pictured is a very close runner up; The Taco Stand.
And finally, Cat and I at the Aquarium. It’s a small aquarium, but, for Cat, all aquariums are good aquariums.
Next time we head down south we’re planning to take the Surf Liner train from Union Station all to San Diego with my mom for her 70th birthday. If you’ve never taken that train, and you live in the Los Angeles area, you’re missing out. It’s very relaxing with great ocean views almost the entire way, made even more relaxing by the wine, beer, and cocktails served in the dining cart!
