Day 2 is our big day in Seattle. Time to knock out basically every tourist spot here! First, let’s head out into the rain for a walk to Pike Place Market.
Pike Place Market
Pike Place is known for their fish market. When someone buys a fish the fishmongers throw the fish from the ice to the worker behind the counter for wrapping and weighing.
Their stools are milk jugs!
You can watch machines separate the curds from the weigh.
We had to get in line 40 minutes early to make sure we could get a seat inside, but it was worth it for Pike Place Chowder!
Pike Place Market was fun, but now that lunch is finished we’re onto the next stop; Chihuly Garden and Glass
This piece is huge!
This was our favorite room. It was more the colors on the wall than the glass sculptures themselves.
Mom & me
Finally, the famed Seattle Space Needle. When it was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.
And the views from the top are still extraordinary!
We had to run back to Pike Place Market for some fresh donuts at Daily Dozen.
In this park, they use goats to keep the grass maintained.
We had an amazing dinner at Lola in Belltown, and somehow I can’t find a single picture. That must mean we actually sat and enjoyed the meal instead of worrying about taking pictures. If you’re ever in Seattle you should definitely check out any number of Tom Douglas restaurants. We ate at 2 this trip, and both were fantastic. That’s all for Seattle. Tomorrow we board the ship and head off to sea!
